Hola!
Growing up as I did, the last thing I would ever have expected to do would be going out into the world to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a missionary, but I’m doing exactly that. I recently had an opportunity to participate in a program called Engage that placed me in Guadalajara, Mexico for a year. While in Guadalajara, I shared the love of Christ with kids, teens, college students, and adults. Through campus ministry, community outreaches, children’s programs, teaching English, feeding programs, discipleship groups, local ministry training and assistance, and short-term missions, I brought the light of Jesus Christ to an area in desperate need of hope.
While in Guadalajara, I am also took online courses at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, working toward a Bachelors’ Degree in Theology, as well as being enrolled in Spanish classes at a university in Guadalajara. I was under the direction of Missionaries Steve and Amy Shoop, who started and run Engage and have amazing vision for God’s people world-wide. It was an incredible opportunity, and I was so thankful to see all the lives we touched and changed while there.
I left on September 1st for a year and I needed both immediate funds to catch up and commitments for $750 each month I was there. There were other costs as well, such as insurance required by the Assemblies of God World Missions program and flights there and home. The total of $10,912.50 per year covered travel, room, board, my visa, and materials. I know it sounds like a lot, but I know this was God’s will for my life and that He will provide. He has opened doors for this to happen, and will continue to open more as we move forward. He wants to see lives changed, and so do I.
Now that I have completed my year in Mexico, I still owe thousands of dollars that never came in. I will continue to work hard to pay back every penny, but part of the work that God has put in front of me is to communicate the work He did through us and to ask for people to sow into that ministry retroactively. I am now continuing on to finish my degree in Texas so I can get back out to the mission field in a permanent capacity, so know that each dollar given sows not only into the actions already completed, but those God is still working and still preparing to work in the future through me. Knowing that each moment spent in Mexico shaped my ministry and my testimony will affect thousands upon thousands of lives across the world. As much as this money is needed, I need prayer even more. Prayer that I would be safe, that lives would be changed, and that God would stretch me and guide me each day. I trust that you will all join me in prayer, but I know not all can contribute financially. If you would like to help, you can send checks made out to Stone Church (with my name in the memo line on the bottom left) to:

They will send you a receipt and your donation will be tax deductable.
I want to keep everyone updated on all we are doing in Guadalajara as much as possible, so I will be regularly posting pictures and journal entries onto my blog here at thewillem.com.
Thank you so much in advance and may God bless you richly.
